Sharon Akaka

Founding Scholar

Sharon Akaka is a Founding Scholar at Academy. She joined the programme after studying History at King’s College London.

Sharon never stood still at university completing internships at Schroders and the FT as well as working as a Summer Analyst at UBS.

Sharon was the President of King’s Gospel Society and represented KCL as a student ambassador.

“I joined Academy because it was everything I was looking for in a graduate programme.

For the past 2 years, I have been on a journey to become a Software Engineer. Throughout the journey, I faced a lot of rejection due to the fact I was a history undergrad. I was often pushed towards non-technical roles and told that I did not possess enough technical skills for the industry.

Academy validated my desire to become a Software Engineer. Speaking to the founding team and faculty gave me the confidence that I will not only leave this experience with strong technical knowledge but also with strong leadership skills.

I am confident that this programme will take me beyond a levelled playing field to a position of advantage within the industry.”
