1. Intro to Tech with Leicester Women in STEM Society

Building a Chatbot with Leicester Women in STEM Society.

Our ASEs led an introduction to coding for members of the Women in STEM Society at Leicester. Thank you our very own Michelle, Muhammad and Matthew for leading that session!

Women in STEM societies have produced incredible Academy scholars in the past so it was great to support this event.

Founding Academy Scholar Hannah is just one example. Hannah founded the Women’s Engineering Society at Nottingham and through Academy joined startup Sourceful as a Software Engineer. ( Sourceful has just raised $12m in seed funding!)

2. Our second Tech Bae Event: Intro to Terminal

We love working with The Tech Bae Platform and their community.

Our Head of Education, Richard, led a coding workshop for Tech Bae in our second event with the platform. This time Richard focused on Terminal and gave a great introduction to the platform.

Partnering with platforms like Tech Bae allows us to share the word about our programme to the people who want a career in tech.

Financial barriers and lack of exposure can prevent folks from taking on opportunities and we’re trying everything we can to get in front of the right people!

3. Academy Mentor Regroup 🌎

On Friday we welcomed our industry mentors to regroup and discuss technical mentoring.

Academy team members Richard, Olivia and Natalya led the session with our incredible group of mentors.

Mentoring is a key way for Academy to support Scholars once they are in full-time work as well as to provide development opportunities for our mentors.

Our industry mentors focused on technical mentoring in this development session with Academy — we’ll see them again in a couple of weeks for the next development session!
